How do you make musical notes play themselves and collector cards turn into smart phone games?
By making the print interactive. Printechnologics has developed Touchcode, an electronic code that can be printed on paper, cardboard, film or labels.
How does it work? During the usual printing process, conductive material is printed with a clear electronic code between the layers of the media material. It is an invisible paper-to-digital security code, which is read by established multi-touch hardware. Currently, Touchcode works with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Windows mobile, Android phones and tablet PCs as well as touch screen terminals. The reading devices recognize the code when it is placed on them; the Touchcode software decodes the data and starts the application on the display immediately.
How can you use Touchcode? New publications can now introduce themselves. Books, magazines and journals are given the possibility of storing audio files, music videos, documentaries, reports and background information electronically and enabling the customer to download them. Musical scores can play themselves and collector cards can turn into Smartphone games. The printed product and a Smartphone are all it takes.
For the 2011 holiday season, JC Penny is promoting their “Santa Tags” Which allow gift givers to record a personal voice message and affix the tag to their gift. The recipient scans the code with a smart phone and hears the gift giver’s voice. Check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EjVvvyLRfA&feature=youtu.be
Interactive advertising, user tracking, and the direct linking to your e-commerce section are no longer dreams of the future, they are here today. What could you do with Touchcode?
